About Me

Greetings friends!

I wanted to take a moment to write a little something about myself and what this blog is all about. My name is Kaitlyn Gustin and I am a 2018 graduate of Oral Roberts University. It is quite hard to wrap my head around the idea that my “adulting” life has begun and I am about to take off into the world (quite literally). I have an immense love and admiration for the Asian cultures and currently plan to take a year to live and travel within Asia (specifically South Korea). I’ll be teaching English and hopefully paying off my school loan at the same time. Ha!

I have decided to take up a challenge this year to do things I want to do that scare me. I kicked off the year by getting into my first official relationship, followed by applying for a recruiting company for English teachers in South Korea, interviewing for a school in South Korea, and accepting the job offered. Starting this blog and sharing it with friends and family was actually another step into my challenge.

I will be using this blog to hopefully encourage and help others to chase after those dreams in their hearts by sharing my experience and what I have learned. I always thought that I had to be better or more prepared or more bold to do the things I wanted to do and I was waiting for a moment in time where I felt ready. That moment never came. So I decided, even if I feel I am ill-prepared, unqualified, and absolutely terrified, I was going to go after my dreams.

I realize now that I do have things to offer, even if I do not know everything. I hope my readers will realize this about themselves as well. So join me and let’s go after those scary but exciting dreams together! It won’t be easy, but I know we can do it.

And to finished this “About Me” page up, I’ll share the Disney quote that inspired this blog’s name and gave me hope during a dark time (Hey, Disney is pretty inspiring sometimes!):

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” –Emperor of China (Mulan)

–The Adversity Rose–

Kaitlyn Rose

P.S. Mulan is one of my top favorite Disney movies
